Virat Kohli or Steve Smith- Who is the Best Batsman in the World?

Former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne who is one of the greatest bowlers in the history of cricket has an opinion that Virat Kohli is undoubtedly the number one batsman in the world. He told that Kohli has an edge over the other batsmen.

He rated Kohli as best batsman across all the three formats of the game. But he feels that Steve Smith is ahead when it comes to the longest format of the game. He also told that in his time, Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar were the two best batsmen.

Shane Warne started his cricketing career in 1990 and ended in 2013. He further added that in this 23 years span, he saw Jaques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, Graham Gooch, Kevin Pietersen, Kumar Sangakkara, and Rahul Dravid and they all were fantastic players.

He then emphasized on the two- Tendulkar and Lara who were much better than the others. He said he is not disrespecting the other great players but these two are class. So Shane Warne considers Virat Kohli as the best batsman in the world.

While former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting who is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time believes that India captain Virat Kohli is currently the best batsman in the world only because Steve Smith is not there.

Steve Smith is serving a year-long ban for his role in ball tampering at a Cape Town Test. Along with Smith, David Warner is also serving a ban due to ball tampering.
